Description

  • The National Steering Committee (NSC) of the Regional Knowledge Network on Systemic Approaches to Water Resources Management (R-KNOW) project in Jordan, which is consists of stakeholders from different governmental institutions and NGOs, meets on a regular basis in order to discuss project activities in Jordan.

    The NSC were gathered on the 7th Apr, 2015 to discuss the latest activities in Jordan aiming at strengthening the processes of sharing knowledge and raising awareness on systemic approaches to sustainable water resource management in the region.

    The International Union for Conservation of Jordan – Regional Office for West Asia (IUCN ROWA) and R-KNOW partner in Jordan, the Arab Women Organization (AWO), introduced RKNOW knowledge sharing database to the NSC. Containing more than nine shared case studies, RKNOW is proudly presenting new knowledge and data over four thematic areas for the MENA region.

    The NSC shared their comments on the Training Need Assessment Report to focus on the main common training needs. This will help in identifying the main topics of the training workshops that will be scheduled later during the project. They were also introduced to the upcoming trainings and workshops within the project.

    R-KNOW is a regional project funded by the European Union aspires to create a Regional Knowledge Network on Water that will assist in strengthening the application of systematic approaches to water management and governance in five countries (Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Morocco and Egypt). It also aims to influence policy and decision-making processes as means to enhance good governance in the water sector.

    The overall vision of RKNOW, is to become the market place of choice for exchanging knowledge on practical integrated water management (IWRM) approaches in the Arab Region. That being said, the new database offers a wide variety of cases and information related to four thematic areas;

    Water Governance.

    Water, Food and Energy.

    Sustainable Water Technologies.

    Water and Climate Change.
